Open Carry Legal in Colorado Open Carry is legal in Colorado (no permit required) as long as you are in a place it is allowed. You are not a prohibited possessor, and are over the age of 18 and not intoxicated. The Denver Metro area is off-limits for open carry as they have a hometown rule which means you can be arrested in the metro area for open carry. Some Concealed Carry Holders are choosing to pocket carry guns and while this is personal choice, I am seeing more and more people do it unsafely. Concealed Carry Training Colorado’s new gun laws have no real effect on Concealed Carry Training in the state. The one small change is that no concealed carry training is allowed to take place on the internet. This is not a problem for most concealed carry training candidates because they want to take a concealed carry training class locally from an instructor that is qualified to give that type of class.
